We can't live without Maths!

D.O. is a good thinker!  She made in interesting comment in class about Maths.  She said "We can't live without Maths."  When we asked her what she meant she told us that we need numbers and that if we didn't have Maths then we couldn't know how to count.

We need numbers so that we know how old we are and how to tell the time.  We need numbers for shopping.  We have to count money using numbers.  If there were no numbers there would be no clocks, measuring tapes or rulers.  Numbers are useful because they give us a name for an amount of something and a way to describe when we were born.

If we didn't have Maths we wouldn't know have names for shapes or a time on the radio, a birthday or a way to measure time.  We need numbers so much!  We couldn't live without them!

What do you think?  What would the world be like without numbers?

  1. Me too. I think D.O. is a very good thinker. She might like maths. I never thought of coming up with such a good question, oh, really brainy. Thanks to MB she has done a very good job.

  2. Yes, we need Maths and use it in our daily life. We wake up by checking the time every morning, that's Maths. We measure teaspoons of sugar for tea, that's Maths. We check the time of our TV programmes, thats' Maths. We pay our bills, measure our height, weight, count the number of days left for holidays, take temperatures and estimate. These are all part of Mathematics.
