Speeches

We have been giving speeches this week.  Already twelve students have given theirs.  Most people are talking about why water is so important to survival.  This morning Miss B was very impressed when ST described water as "a drink from the earth" and that water is "a gift you give to your body."  What a clever way to explain where water comes from and where it is used.

AR gave some very interesting facts about water in her speech.  She said that our body is 80% water and that although we can live a month without food, we can only survive a few days without water.  This means that water is vitally important to our survival.  AR explained that when we breath out we are actually losing water from our bodies!  This means that we should continue to replace the water that comes out of our bodies.  We should drink eight big glasses of water each day.  I wonder how many of us are drinking enough!

We need water in our bodies to clean away waste products inside our bodies.  We also use water to wash the outside of our bodies as well as our hair, clothes and even out pets!  Water is important for cooking too.

  1. I remember myself saying my speech and feeling nervous at the same time. When I started off I felt confident. JT

That's the funny thing about speaking in front of people - you can feel nervous then become more confident as you go along. We give you opportunities at school to develop your confidence at speaking in from of an audience so take them! Miss B
