Learning about rotation

We have been discussing what ROTATION is in Maths.  It is different from REFLECTION which we learnt about last week.

We made some lovely fern designs and turned them into a rotational patterns to support our favourite rugby team - the All Blacks!

Of course we learnt about the silver fern as well and how it is a much loved icon of New Zealand used by many of our national sporting teams including the All Blacks.

Did you know that the Silver Fern is a tree fern or ponga that only grows in New Zealand?  The top-side of the fern frond is green and the underside is silver.  It is a real treat to find one when tramping or hiking in the bush.
