When we were done we were so proud of our work. Many of us rushed to hang up the posters on the fence before the two minute silence at 12:51pm, the exact time the earthquake struck one week ago today.
While we were hanging up our posters some drivers drove by and tooted their horns in support of our messages. That was a really great encouragment! An Asian couple walked past too and stopped to look at our work. They were also very impressed with our messages. We had just finished hanging up our posters when the bell rang to signal the beginning of the two minutes of silence. We quickly sat down on the footpath to think about those who are suffering and to pray for them. The other children on the playground stopped their playing and sat on the field.
I see - crumbled buildings, broken glass, collapsed walls, crying people, crushed cars, people hugging...
I hear - sobbing, screaming, sirens, alarms, collapsing roofs, cracking windows, rumbling, people talking & calling, silence...
I smell - smoke, gas and dust...
I taste - smoke and dust...
I feel - rough bricks, sharp glass, emotional pain, big hugs, the ground shaking, tears falling down, sadness...
